…isn’t everything a risky undertaking?
Join me as your tour guide to the place where curiosity and adventure collide
“The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.”
My superpower is curiosity and it fuels me to learn how things work, to explore new places, and to discover the awe and wonder of how things grow.
Curiosity leads to adventure which Webster defines as “an exciting or unusual experience; it may also be a bold, usually risky undertaking with an uncertain outcome. Curiosity makes everything a Risky Undertaking.
Inspiration
Let’s get off the couch and turn off the TV. There is a world just waiting to be discovered.
Insatiable Curiosity
I can’t help it. Insatiable curiosity takes me to some very interesting places and to a world of learning that enriches my world.
Humor
Most of these adventures turn into disasters and wry humor is the best way to share some of these crazy antics and interests.
How it all began
In 2020, dreams of exploring the country as a modern-day nomad got me hooked on YouTube and Facebook groups. I joined a number of groups and discovered some vintage photos of travel adventures that sang to my soul. I went in search of meeting Sylvia Witz who posted many photos which came from thousands of Kodak slides her father had well-preserved of their family travels. Sylvia permitted me to use her dad’s photos for my website. The best part is we have become friends across the miles (Indiana to Minnesota) and she is one of my greatest cheerleaders for all the curious things I share. Finally, in 2025, I am building the website which has changed considerably from a “nomad traveling the southwest” to this risky undertaking of exploring all that my curiosity prompts me to do. Learn more about the vintage photos of the 1951 Desoto Suburban, the Pleasure Craft trailer and the fascinating life of Sylvia Witz.

How to navigate the stories
Go to the Blog tab on the top menu. Press Enter to get all the stories arranged in the order I put them on the website. There is a drop down sub-menu on the Blog tab to show the various categories. Once you are on a Blog page, you can click on “Categories” and all stories written under that subject are displayed. The Categories will increase as I put all the madness on the website. Why do I do this? I am simply compelled to share. If you love it, let’s chat. If it is not your cup of tea, or cocktail with bitters, no hard feelings. I hope a few stories will inspire you explore, research, try something new, make mistakes, enlarge your sphere. It will give you something to talk about other than politics.

Geriatric Starlet
The voice, mind and hair color behind the curiosity and adventure.
I am Polly Riddell but I write under the pen name G. Polly Jordan. In my retirement, I am now able to enjoy all my time exploring every little thing that interests me. I need more than a Facebook page to document this endeavor, thus the remake of Risky Undertaking was born. From the mad scientist creating my own cocktail bitters to creating dreamy cloud-like meringue cookies from bean juice, there is always something very much off the beaten path going on in my Pink Kitchen. Many outdoor projects were a complete disaster and I will share those too as humor in failure is entertaining and that is what I want to do. I want to humor you, entertain and inspire.
